Invest in
Forest
The major drivers for demand of commercial forestry sector products and services in Tanzania are high economic growth, high urbanization rate and increase in household incomes in the East, Southern and Central Africa. A study by Forestry Development Trust shows that Tanzania faces a deficit in the supply of wood-based products, the gap will increase to 3 million m³ (rwe) by 2035. The gap constitutes of: Large diameter sawlogs for sawn timber and veneer production (1.4 million m³); Wood fibre for pulp and particle/fibre board (1 million m³). Note that Tanzania imports about 50% of the wooden poles requirement, all print paper materials and a large percentage of furniture made from medium-density fibre board (MDF).
Industrial Plots for Timber Processing
All towns have established industrial zones and clusters suitable for establishment -based industries. Mafinga Town Council has allocated 60 hectares for timber processing complex, it is supplied with electricity and piped water. Mufindi District Council and Kilolo have allocated tracts of land for development of wood-based products. In case the investor needs land outside the available plots, the District Investment Officers are ready to assist find alternative sites.
